[Cvs-mvs] CVS for AS/400?

Wayne,

Thanks for the reply!

As for the AIX suggestion, I've had some feedback from the OSS400 list (open source software for the AS/400) and they've tried the AIX:

>From Martin Rowe:
I have had a brief try with the AIX 5.2 version of CVS running in PASE but
hit a bunch of errors, which I think were be code page or ASCII/EBCDIC
related. I haven't yet had the chance to take it further, but it might be
worth pursuing. I've not heard of work on a native version :(

So I think that's a no - but if your friend has had more success I'd like to know where I could get some more information.

My company has various partnership arrangements with IBM - so we could probably get some time on a machine to try some things, but I'd like to leave that until I've got a little more knowledge.

What is the cross compiler you are using? Do you or other people do any testing? What are the compatibilities between iSeries and AS/400 - they both run OS/400 do they?

Thanks again for the reply and for taking the time to improve CVS!

Regards,

Arthur Barrett

I've never run it native on an as400. We've always run it on a PC and run the cross compiler.

AFAIK, it would work on the ifs, but since it uses stat() I would be supprised if it ran on a DB2 fs.

One of my co-workers is working with a tool that will run AIX binaries on the AS400. Maybe that would do it.

Hi all,

I'm new to the group and work with CVS on Windows and Unix (particularly
the cvsnt variant), but I've recently been asked if CVS is available for
AS/400. Particularly support for both the IFS and DB2 file systems.

Thanks for any assistance!

Arthur Barrett
